Betty's Lounge is a group dedicated to fans of the Brooklyn Zoo Stories and adjacent tales, who crave more than the pound of flesh already given! Here, discuss your favorite character, or least favorite; share fan fiction art, engage in in-depth conversations about the world of Brooklyn Zoo; have access to exclusive content (BTS, merch drops and items), including announcements!
Located in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Betty's Lounge is a local haunt, a pillar in the community, and over time has become a hideout of sorts—but not how you think!
Native of old Brooklyn by way of Redhook, and a long-time resident of Crown Heights—Betty's Lounge owner, Ricky has had his share of run-ins with four-legged and two-legged rats. A former enforcer for a prominent family, Ricky has taken bat to legs before, driven people on "one-way" trips, and has contributed to the current state of the Gowanus Canal; yet, with all his savvy, one thing keeps him awake once the sun goes down: Brooklyn after hours... the reason for turning Betty's Lounge into a safe haven!

This is a supportive environment for creators of all experience levels, and gatekeeping or shaming will not be tolerated. Cre8tive Focus All content should align with magical realism or grounded supernatural fantasy. Stories should emphasize emotion, atmosphere, symbolism, and character rather than spectacle. Cultural Awareness When drawing from real-world cultures, folklore, religions, or spiritual traditions, do so thoughtfully and respectfully. Avoid stereotypes or harmful portrayals, and be open to learning if concerns about representation are raised. Content Boundaries Explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or shock-based material is not permitted. Dark or mature themes are allowed when handled with care and purpose. Use content warnings for sensitive topics when appropriate. Ownership and Credit Share only work you own or have permission to post. Plagiarism or reposting others’ work without consent is prohibited. Credit inspirations or collaborators when relevant. Feedback and Critique Feedback should be constructive and respectful, focusing on the work rather than the creator. Offer suggestions, not demands, and ask before giving in-depth critique if unsure. Writers are free to accept or decline feedback. Promotion and Moderation Self-promotion is allowed only with moderator approval or in designated spaces.
